FAQ
1.
What is the difference between GeekyTech and most system integrators?
Our builds are manually tuned to extract maximum performance from the components before delivery, while ensuring no compromise and extending longevity. It is also the reason why our builds aren’t listed with the RAM speed. Each build will be tuned to the best possible speed, in AMD’s case, at a 1:1 ratio, as it provides better latency than a 2:1 ratio, no matter the speed.
-
You offer a 1-year warranty, no questions asked, but some components have longer-term warranties with their manufacturers. Will you honor those warranties?
Yes. If a system is out of the main warranty, but the problem is a component that is still under the manufacturer's warranty, we will provide support to find the best solution through the component manufacturer’s warranty.
-
How can I trust the quality of the components being used in your builds?
At GeekyTech, we are knowledgeable not only about the PC component brands and their reputations, but also about the manufacturers behind them (most name brands you recognize don’t actually manufacture their products, but rather design them) and which internal components specific models utilize. We use that expertise to ensure only the best products are in our systems.
Specifically for PSUs, we go by the SPL PSU Tier list, a continuation of the now-outdated Cultist PSU tier list. More information can be found here.
-
What is “tuning,” and how does it affect performance?
Computer parts usually come to a certain standard of performance level (advertised on the box), but real-world silicon variance means that is just the minimum level of performance that is guaranteed. At GeekyTech, we will do our best to get the maximum out of each relevant component (CPU, RAM, and GPU) for the best performance level your specific PC can deliver.
-
What do you mean by less bloatware?
At GeekyTech, we manually modify the Windows ISO before installation to remove typically unwanted bloatware, like Copilot and Cortana, and also restore the regular right-click menu on Windows 11. No, we don’t use available ones like Tiny11 or Ghost Spectre because we cannot guarantee their security protocols. Those types of ISO strip so much that a lot of Windows functions stop working properly. Components that are removed by us, can be reinstalled from the Microsoft Store if desired.
-
Can I request specific brands for GPU, RAM, etc.?
We can accommodate you in terms of brand preference, but understand this will most likely add to the cost. Email us for further inquiries.
-
How long does it take to build and ship my PC?
There’s a page dedicated to explaining our process, which MUST be read before buying. In short, due to the nature of our system setup, which can on occasion take weeks of stability testing, shipping times will usually fluctuate between 2 weeks to a month.
-
What actions void the warranty?
The biggest one is changing BIOS settings. I know this might sound like we’re restricting our users, but our system’s BIOS settings will be heavily altered, leaving no room to play with them without ruining our stability test.
-
Can I upgrade my PC later without voiding the warranty?
Yes, but we would require you to send an email and confirm with us to preserve the no-questions-asked warranty.
